Rich from the South East!

Post by rich83 »

Hello ladies and gents.

My name is Rich and I live in the South East.

I am a back packer and hiker and for years have used US and UK survivalist boards for getting information on stuff like what is the best bergan and what foods last in the heat for my back packing purposes but I have also always worried about how I would look after my family in the event of anything.

Sadly due to recurrent injuries I am no longer able to hike far or carry a heavy burgan so I am moving towards what the Americans call "Car Camping" which is pretty much loading the car with your camping equipment and not carrying it on your back. If something were to happen which required me to sustain my family away from the home then this is what I would do anyhow as I'd never be able to carry enough for myself and my three young boys, even if the wife managed here own began and even then my boys aren't going to be able to move fast or for long so car camping becomes car bugging out for me and mine :)

I have also been a small trader of army surplus for some years and found the kit I get in stock interesting and have researched it thoroughly which I feel leaves me with quite a bit of knowledge about said items which will of course be useful in the "what if" and this information I want to share. As a long distance self sufficient back packer (formerly) I have gained a lot of knowledge on what kit is the best kit for the purposes of carrying, and most importantly what works, does not work and what can be left behind and substituted in the wild!

Anyhow this is me saying hi. So Hi! :)

Great introduction. Thank you for taking the time to post it.

Hello and welcome.

Please tell us more about car camping and how you see that working in the UK.

Hello and welcome to the Forum.

I car camp as well as undertake overseas trips with what I can carry or pull on a pulk.

Both work.:)
Two is one and one is none, but three is even better.
