As compared to 10 years ago my preps are much more extensive. I have a greater peace of mind knowing that I have taken precautions. War and surviving when the SHTF, are two things you pretty much go to as you are. No more time. No more preps. It will be what it is.

Remember, you are never prepared, but always working towards it.

I feel more settled than ten years ago. our lives have become progressively more self sufficient. Nothing compares to the joy and satisfaction (or indeed flavour!) of eating a meal, seeded, hatched, nurtured, grown and harvested/killed by your own hand. No GM, no pesticides, no forced growing and a happy life with a swift clean death. A whole life, not moved more than 100 yds

Nothing compares to that ;)

Stasher, I think that's the kind of life we humans are designed for, and anything after that was a mistake

Ten years ago my income was more erratic than it is today (which is saying something!), I was heavily in debt which I am not now, I didn't have a first aid kit, I didn't use vitamins and minerals the way that I should, I had little knowledge about how to look after myself medically, I wasn't as skilled at cooking as I am now, I was less fit (and am still pretty unfit but much less unfit than I was before), I hadn't got into a routine of having a few tins put aside incase.....

and lots of other things.

So, yea, safer.
