It is f*in lot of money, bust myself til next pay day buying them. I think it's the right choice though. Earlier in the year I bought some £40 boots thinking I was getting a bargain. They fell apart within a month! I'm hoping the extra spent should mean a good few years of use.
OK, heres where you need to tell us what name these cardboard slippers are sold under, stop the rest of us falling into the same trap.
In think in the long run it's more economic to buy quality gear and look after it / repair it than buy low grade cheap alternatives over and over again.
Ah, the Sam Vimes Law of Wealth.

I'd rather buy quality second-hand then new second-rate.

That said, I live in BCH.
It takes me at least a couple of years to kill a pair, I've never bought the Unissued ones either.

BTW From Endicotts they'll cost you anything from £1 (for the most knackered.... Zombie-boots  ) to £46 for Super+ (New are only 40 notes :? ) and because they were issued to all British forces they come in a full range of sizes. I've seen Adult 2's (teeny) and heard of Adult 15's (Or they could of been tank-landing craft made of leather. )

That's a great shout!

The boots were some shit i got off ebay deals and did no research on them they were only for day to day going to work in. They wore out that fast and I work in an office! Absolute rubbish and easily avoided.

Ah, thanks
If it had been a Brand then we'd all need to know what to dodge.

Oh, when I order my BCH I ask for them as "264 L" (thats size 8, broad fitting)...... Because I'm that much of a sad act

I work a few hours in a store which owns karrimor products and promotes their sale viciously...
Stay WELL away, even on the high end stuff the build quality is abysmal, despite all the silly tags, and fancy plastic odds and sods!
Many guys I know in the forces give a fantastic review of the Lowas, though I personally can't afford a pair at the moment.

Lowa are a decent make, not sure about this model.

I know many guys have Lowa issued in the military if they have foot problems (i.e flat feet), or serious issues with the standard issue boots.

The only problem with footwear in general is it's varries from person to person, even when thoughs people are doing the same activitys. I swear by altberg sneekers for any tast except extreme cold weather, they have a factory in richmond east yorkshire where they can mesure your feet across a few angles and make some boots up to the exact size for your feet. I have a good friend who says the same about bates falcon. I tried them on his advice once and hated them, no support, very lightweight and to much toe room for my likeing! Maybe Im just a fussy old sod though ;D

On the plus side this seems good value for a gortex boot, and undercuts most decent brands I know of.

Only negative is the army are in the process of changing over from black to brown boots atm, so stand by for some great deals on surplus stocks of black boots.

I don't like the Assault boot, so no good deals for me

Mind you, I don't trust gortex. I know its got pores to let water vapour out, but what happens when they get blocked with dirt and other crud. Answer, you're wearing plastic foorwear :|

Boots are like knives, whats good for me might not be for you

You wash them!! I put my man's gortex stuff in the wash, you can get bottles of the re-water-proofing stuff.
