Re: What would you prep first?
just cos someone has lots of money dosent mean they are "clued up", just look at some of our so called celebrities, spending money like water but would they survive post event? I doubt it very much!
Adapt or Die, there is no middle ground.

I already wrote it somewhere about Poles being sent to Siberia in XIX century. these were noble people (parasites imo) which means they never worked and they had to cope in bad climate and they didlonewolf wrote:just cos someone has lots of money dosent mean they are "clued up", just look at some of our so called celebrities, spending money like water but would they survive post event? Before SHTF
Savings - The everyday life prep, unless your expecting the end of the world tmz then money, can get you through all the personal SHTF events in life, redunacy, new car, divorce, house fire or property stolen, etc. Also good to buy preps.
Personal fitness - The fitter and healther you are the better you can hope to life now and if something happens.
-----
For if the SHTF
Lists - Dont buy a single prep till you thought through all the options, you might kick yourself if you find something better, more compact or cheaper.
Make some storage room before you buy and have yourself overrun with equipment.
Priortise - Water, then 3day supply, week supply, month supply up to your personal level.

To be a consistent winner means preparing not just one day, one month or even one year - but for a lifetime.

Good post Kris369
I end up analyzing every 'stash/prep' item I purchase for the very reasons you've listed. I'm not a great believer in buying lots of kit, having said which, if having fifteen different types of barely legal (or even illegal carry) knives or umpteen ways to start a fire makes an individual happy, who am I to say they shouldn't have it? Every prep is made in order for that individual to feel more comfortable and secure about an uncertain future
I am comfortable with the way we stash and put plans in place for the future, it's not perfect, but then neither are we (in the stasher household)! - except for my dog
Planning is the way forward, your priorities will emerge, sometimes in a surprising fashion

Re: What would you prep first?
Think you nailed it Stasher, it doesn't matter really what or how much you prep, as long as you feel better and more comfortable for it, i am slowly building up a supply of tinned and dried food at the mo, as well as firelighters, logs and kindling, firesteel, zippo fuel etc, more so for the up and coming long winter, but also for.... Well, you never know do you??? Thats why we prep.
