Feminine hygiene bags are better quality, but I've yet to find them at under 90p for 50..........

By flavour I mean fragranced

Should have a look in the pound shops, they sometimes have them. I will let you know next time I'm out and see them cheap.

I ought to mention that I live in the countryside and (I'm sure a number of you will find this shocking) I have only been in a pound shop three times, wilkinsons once, the works once (great shop for recipe books ). My nearest department store is over an hour away!

I rarely venture into the big towns/cities as
a) it takes a day out of my week
b) they want how much for parking?
c) overwhelming majority of the shops are chain stores with nothing original/interesting in them (except for Lakelands )
d) people tend to be so ill mannered!

A few years ago we were out and knew there was an M&S in the town. Seduced by the 'dine in for two' advertising we made it into the store and I had to ask the manager how it worked! Alpha male said I should have had a bit of straw sticking out of my mouth

We now buy them regularly (that's twice a year!)

we buy the excruciatingly expensive pronamel toothpaste. Currently the american supermarket is selling them 2 for £5. So I spent twenty quid

I'm a newbie regarding pound shops etc as we have only just got our first Poundland in our local high street and I can't be bothered to drive for miles to go to one either lol A lot of it is rubbish but sometimes they have stuff that is decent to buy.

I used to use the pronamel stuff, as having sensitive teeth thought it would help... it did not!!! Only the normal non faffed with sensodyne is any good for my teeth!! But it is expensive which annoys me... I have ventured into another shop new to me called Home Bargains (OH had hospital so I wandered to the local shops) and they really did have some good stuff in there at very good prices so well worth a visit or you can buy on-line and get it delivered. Bargain prices on noodles, water and various drinks.

Lakeland.... I love that place, could spend a fortune in there!! I love the big tins of prepared oranges to make marmalade with (such a faff to prepare it all yourself and takes a couple of days to do - who has the time!) Makes lovely marmalade too.

Colgate doesn't work for me, I've tried many brands and only the normal, non whitening, non singing dancing sensodyne works for me. Loved the oral b with bits toothpaste though mouth felt ultra clean and fresher for the whole morning.

Tesco sell 'stag' chilli in tins. Its really lovely and lasts many years.
Its roughly £1.40 a can though but id say its worth it to buy a couple of cans.

Ventured into the german supermarket again for bargain priced tinned fish. Sardines 40p !?! Thought our stash was a bit meat heavy so have redressed the balance a tad. Can recommend the herring in a tomato and pepper sauce (bit pricier!) it's lovely and you can eat it straight from the tin

Went back to the start of this post and read the prices mentioned less than a year ago, make interesting reading! Bought a heap of sugar in lidl for 69p kg , haven't seen it that cheap for a long time.

Feeling slightly inspired by this thread I gave this a go earlier in Asda! Here's how I got on -

4x tin spaghetti bolognese = 64p
2x large tin potatoes = 30p
2x tins mushy peas = 32p
2x tins kidney peans = 46p
2x tins spaghetti = 32p
2x tins carrots = 38p
2x tins mixed vegetables = 42p
2x irish stew = 86p
2x bags 500g pasta = 58p
1x tub instant gravy = 20p
2x tins chicken soup = 48p

= £4.96

BUT I also then picked up 2x mini hand sanitizing gel for 2p! Only two left in the clearance department or I'd have picked up more. As it stands it put me at bang on a fiver and I got 23 tins of food with good sell by dates plus the sanitizing gel for my money!
