Hi Again,

Thx to thoses who replied & for your welcome to the forum... I have started by stocking up 3mths supply of tin items, rice, pasta etc, basic medical supplies, batteries, torches....I am unsure regarding the water though, as i did have large bottles but i read resently about the plastic bottled water containing large amounts of PCP which in turn is harmful . So what is the next best way to store water if no stream etc is close by???

Thx

Store water in the bottles it came in, or use pop bottles, that's what I use.

Hi SandyB
How are you? And welcome.
I always find that starting with a good survival book to get the basics down like the SAS survival handbook by lofty wiseman, once you have the basics you can get ideas from anywhere and everywhere, try you tubing for prepping (in the UK) or survivalism you can find some good ideas for it and great places to start esp with stuff like survival equipment and bug out bags etc

I hope that helps, feel free to drop me an email if you'd like to chat more or swap a few ideas?

Kind regards

Hi Sandy,

I'm quite local to you, I'm from Littleborough.

Just buy things nice and gradually off eBay when it's cheapest.

It's good advice to start with a survival handbook. Learn how to clean water, learn the importance of shelter etc. then figure out what you're prepping for. Surviving in your home, bugging out. Then figure out how long you want to survive / bug out for. You build your gear accordingly.

All I'd say if youre bugging out is STAY LIGHT! It's so easy to go overboard and have more than you can easily carry. If the shit hits the fan you'll want to be able to move on foot a long way. Maybe right up Blackstone edge just for starters.

Let me know if you really get into this thing. If you end up buying a radio maybe we could communicate? I want to set up a little known Preppers radio channel like they have in the USA so if TSHTF we can stay in touch and share ideas, trade or maybe even meet up and combine skills.

Have fun and whatever you do, don't spend too much. It's so easy to.
