fupping I hadn't even looked at hexamine, mostly because I have no experience of it. Now you've mentioned the fumes I'll definitely be steering well clear. I don't have my cooking equipment for the stove yet so I'll keep cooking times in mind to save gas.
Thanks for the link Hoipoloi, that looks interesting. Someone in the comments section mentions boy scouts making heaters out of tin cans. It made me think of a story my dad told me once about when he used to bunk off school and listen to punk records in the shed. To keep it warm he used to put candles in an old biscuit tin, I'll ask him a bit more about that too!

At the minute I'm leaning towards the Vango as it looks like the Campingaz restricts you to using a certain type of Campingaz canister, whereas the Vango allows you to use any screw-type canister.
