Hello Folks

Post by Holtwuda Mann »

Hello all.

Decided to join up here to learn and absorb information, as social break down seems about as certain as Sunday following Saturday, and with the UK being the most densely populated country in Europe preparation becomes starkly paramount.
I’ve recently moved to the Devonshire countryside and plan to become more self sufficient. I have some small experience with self sufficiency but I’m by no means accomplished in the area.

Looking forward to learning and applying it practically.

Wilcuma,

I like the usage of the Havamal, the elder witan lore I tend to steer my life by.

As is written,

It is, and shall be, a terrible thing when guest quarrels with guest

Thanks for the welcomes.

Wulfshead, A broðor quoted the first lines of the Havamal to me a few years ago. I've returned to it many times since for Wodens wisdom. Thanks for the welcome , wæs Hael. ;)

Yes indeed, so much is written within the Havamal's relatively few verses and if read correctly there is no finer rede.

Here we discuss prepping and in so putting words and ideas into action we prepare to do what we can to cling onto what levels of normality we can accept in times of need.
With that in mind, and with the obvious interest in elder written script you have, have you perchance read 'The Wanderer' an inclusion from within the Exeter Book ?
It's an Old Englisc poem who some claim dates from the conversion times to as late as the 10th century.
I love the poem very much as to me it speaks of a great sadness felt by the wanderer at the loss of that which was taken for granted as a forever norm.
As I said we treat here within the subject of prepping to hold on to what norms we can when things go awry and the Wanderer Poem should act to inform us of that sickening feeling of loosing what we could have prevented to some degree.

Also Holtwuda Mann,
I have a nagging feeling that I may know you from the known men of the cynn.
Did Jotnar and I spend a bank holiday with you and others of the elder faith persuasion earlier this year in Wessex ?
