Should I get a gun?

Currently at the age limit to get both a shotgun and a rifle., but should I? In a SHTF situation it would be very useful but also have very bad downsides using a gun, I have a crossbow which I feel will be more useful. I have used a rifle before and have a very good aim, I also have been asked to join a shooting club. Just need another opinion on the matter of a gun in the SHTF, worst case I will just shoot for fun and not use it in a pandemic.

There are certain protocols we adhere to here at UKP. As you are (very) new, you will not be aware. There are a good number of members , including myself, who shoot for sport. The question'Should I get a gun?' Is a little blunt tbh. As a prepping site we are under scrutiny as this subject does crop up periodically.
I would suggest you do a search about shooting sports etc. , and concentrate on the mundane things like food,water etc. for now. We do not, however discuss "Weapons" as such.
