Good attitude, it's one day of hopefully many to follow. I've been daft enough to do it twice now and both were reasonably cheap. Enjoy the day, at least you don't have to do any speeches, I've been best man 3 times too and you can't relax (by that I mean get too 'squiffy') until after the speeches. Good luck with it all missus.OCDprepgirl wrote:Lol I can check but I'm pretty sure I am! i can get a bit obsessive over not spending money but we'll be wed, looking respectable and have a nice meal with family after. Plus I can sell my 22ct gold antique ring for more than I paid for it, even in scrap value, if it all goes pear shaped hope for the best, prepare for the worst!Deeps wrote:Are you sure you're a 'girl' ?OCDprepgirl wrote:Actually put money aside into my emergency fund for the first time rather than paying off debt. Officially debt free bar the mortgage no other preps this week as I'm now frighteningly close to getting married. Total cost of wedding: £460 no point in getting back in to debt for it!
What preps are you doing this week? part 2.

An ex-friend of mine got married last year, in a forest - they had a reception at the visitors centre (I think) and one thing I remember was that for placemats they collected old slate roof tiles, and cut them down - the offcuts went into the garden, of course.
I loved the slate idea so much I started skipdiving for them, and I use them as a fireproof surface to put candles and tealight heaters on - it works well.

Yesterday I prepared peppers and carrots, today it was onions, bananas and strawberries.
I've blanched all the veg and I've frozen half for use during the month, left a quarter fresh and in the fridge for the next few days and the last quarter I am dehydrating. I have also sliced up 3 bananas, a big punnet of strawberries and to use up the remaining space on one of the fruit trays, I'm dehydrating a plum to see how it turns out!
I find this an easy way to add to my food storage and it also makes life easier for meal preparation during the month.

Bit of a random question, do you reckon you could use it to make smash-style dehydrated mash?
Re: What preps are you doing this week? part 2.
Absolutely! That's one of the reasons i want one Peel your potatoes, cook and chop/mash and spread it out on your dehydrator sheet, let it do it's thing and then you can blitz it into teeny pieces in a blender and store in a regular jar/Tupperware

I went into Llandudno and spent £40 on dried and tinned things, plus a few solar garden lights each 85p. Useful re-chargable torches if the light does go off.
Of course, it's all not for the 'Hunker Bunker', but I did check most of the sell by dates on the packs and tins. Aso vitamin pills. Next month it's lighting and warmth, followed a month later by medical stuff. I have some already, but not enough.
If nothing does go pear shape, it will be useful.
I am looking around the internet for a cheap Cookes stove or something similar that will cook over twigs and scrap wood.

You can make a rocket stove (for outside use) out of couple old tins, try youtube, also if you go to the DIY section here we have a few tutorials on making hobo stoves and the likeDicon wrote:I went into Llandudno and spent £40 on dried and tinned things, plus a few solar garden lights each 85p.
