You learn something everyday ..........

Post by tanstaafl »

I followed a link on another post to here http://www.stilltasty.com/questions/index/26/page:1 , thanks ukpreppergrrl..............

Within 5 mins I learnt 3 things I did not know...

1) Frozen food will keep indefinitely

2) Bottled water will keep indefinitely

3) Chicken can be cooked from frozen

The first 2 also say that quality may reduce but it will be safe........

I think I might be spending a lot of time on that site over the weekend.............

Chicken that has been in the freezer for over a year tends to go stringy, the texture is not so nice and best used in soups or shredded and put in a sauce.

Think that site is American so not sure if some of the recommendations are correct for here in UK, I'm not sure they process their food the same way as we do here??

Loved the "nine foods that will outlast you". Mind you some days that's not saying much. or as my husband puts it - one clean shirt will see you out! Can see me spending some time on that site too, thanks for the info.

It probably is, they do use GM in their food , The general Info will be good, specifics ways of doing things may use items/ingredients that are banned in the EU/UK. But don't worry TTIP will correct that. LOL

You can use the ash from a campfire to store organic food, will last about two/three times as long.
