Made some rhubarb and elderflower jam, with crystallised ginger too, from a River Cottage recipe - not really enough rhubarb ready from my garden yet, but it was lovely :)

Also posted a new blog about small-scale radiological incidents.

Just opened & ate a jar of pears I canned in April 14 yesterday.
Tasted good & as best I could tell, as good as the day they were canned.
Think the pressure canner is the best thing I ever bought.

Hi all just started getting back in to prepping. today manged to pick up a 110cc (non runner - project) little pitbike. Due to living in the country side it may come in handy. And a nice daf 12v battery for my cb radio if I get it working.

This week ive been getting all the stuff together to do the cam belt, tensioner, water pump, "fan" belt, gaskets et all on my Car..... its due ,, it needs doing and a SHTF type moment could occur should it let go miles from anywhere..

Preventative maintenance seems to be very overlooked at the moment due to people been hard up but a damaged engine = a shed load of heartache and no work / stuck miles from home.

fortunately im handy with spanners. and have the correct locking kit / computer software to do the deed from my last almost identical car... just got to contend with Variable valve timing on this one
If your roughing it, Your doing it wrong ;)

Lack of planning on your part doesn't make it an emergency on mine

We have some pretty strong winds hitting us at the moment so as they started I went round and made sure everything that could blow away was secured.

Good move as we are getting hit by 80-90mph winds and I am sat in my office watching trees 5 time taller than my house bending at alarming angles. Even the chickens have gone into hiding!

Might get to have some fun with power outages later :)

Two is one and one is none, but three is even better.

Thanks for the post, it's made me think about my DD hammock set up. I suffer a bit with condensation on the inside of the hammock, how do you get around this with this bag?

I was looking at the DD quilt that goes on the outside as an option.

TBH I don't have that problem with any of my top quilts or under quilts.

When I had a DD Travel I never had condensation either.

Sorry I'm not much help
