Went a bit mad today. 5 jars Chilli, 8 jars minced beef and I noticed one of the stored Winter Squash had a blemish so I canned that too (6 jars). Need To make more pea and ham soup, that stuff doesn't hang around long.

It certainly doesn't!! We are eating our way through our jars quicker than I thought we would

Do you cook your minced beef before canning?? Just curious as I've noticed raw packed comes out as a big clump vs pre cooked?

Canned up 8 jars of vegetable stock yesterday, although I've strained it through a double layer of muslin cloth it still has a few "bits" in. Anyone else have this happen? It makes no difference to the taste, it just looks a bit hmmm! Sorry, forgot to add the photo!

I don't bother canning stock, so wouldn't know I'm afraid Decaff.

The best way I have found of canning mince is to roll into balls, then follow the instructions in the USDA canning book and I always hot pack, we just don't like the results from raw pack, but that's a personal preference.
Also nice and easy to break up the balls to use.

French onion soup and tomato powder from the skins of tomatoes for adding flavour to soups, stews and more.

Getting low on fruit fillings, going to water-bath can apples, blueberries and am waiting eagerly for the big juicy strawberries to appear at the local farm shop. Not expecting a large amount from the plants at the Lottie as this is their first year.

Got a kilo of cherries yesterday for £4, which is a bargain price round here for cherries so will be canning these up today. I may have to get another couple of packs and freeze some too.

So did I miss something? Have I missed a page? What was the outcome of the person looking to set up an estore supplying jars etc? Is there someone on here to contact where I can get them or have I got to get them the expensive way like everyone else?

By the looks of things the estore didn't happen, so it's the expensive way like everyone else.

You should look on www.jamjarshop.com for jam jars, lids and bottles. They do value boxes for fabulous prices.

Cheapest place I've found for proper Ball Jason jars is www.lakeland.co.uk they also sell jam jars but not as cheap as the jam jar shop.

Hope this is helpful.
