I've watched a few of his videos too - very good and lots of great ideas. I especially like his homemade sun oven for dehydrating.

Useful information that, CC, thanks. I was thinking about vacuum packing the grain in bags but now I think about it, the bags available aren't nearly big enough to hold a useful amount of stock. The grain does need to be deprived of oxygen then, or it'll start to grow or spoil?

Thanks for the video too, Magz, I watched it with interest. :)

LJ, The O2 Absorbers is to remove the oxygen to prevent bugs etc being able to live in the environment and spoiling the grain. You can buy Mylar Bags of virtually any size you want. Some people will store grain etc in mylar bags but to prevent damage by rodents will also put the bags into buckets. Some just use the buckets. It is an ideal way of storing lots of basic foodstuffs longterm including Rice.

Cant the flour be put into mylar and oxygen absorbers as well as the grain?! and therefor last for years?
