Hi Guys,
Been reading through here the last few days and thought I'd join up so I can join in the discussions!
I've always had a "be prepared" mentality, nothing particularly extreme, but amongst my friends I'm always the guy who's got the extra tools in my car for a roadside repair, an extra bottle of water, a couple of plasters or a torch... not sure if that makes me a prepper or just well prepared!
I like to be fairly self sufficient in that I don't like paying people to do jobs I could do myself, so over the last 8 years since leaving college I've learnt how to fix pretty much everything on a car, in a house, in electronic devices. I'm also pretty handy when it comes to fabrication and innovation (read bodging stuff back together lol). Definitely learnt more useful life skills since leaving college than when I was there.
I've also always kept a stock of tins and dried food in the house as more than once in the past I've been cleaned out by an unexpected expense, its come in handy a few times.
Until recently I've not been prepping for anything specific, But I find myself being drawn more and more to an "off grid" lifestyle. I don't necessarily want to live without power/gas/water in the back of beyond, I just want to have backups in place just in case. It's more of a being free of constraints thing rather than a SHTF thing.
that's enough rambling for now anyway, see you around the forum!
