I agree some of the cheaper power banks are useless. I bought 2 of these as a back up to my solar power bank and just to give them a test, both seem to work well initially as to how well they hold charge or perform over time is another matter.

Processing apples for pie fillings (Freezer) and crumbles.
Doing my usual cupboard clearance to find room for Christmas foods.
Trying to condense the contents of my crafts cupboard so I can tidy up a bit.
I also need to mend the corner of my shed roof so it doesn't let water in.

I am prepping to restart my prepping at the moment if that makes sense. Just finishing a big 5 month refurb of our house which having been let down on the very day of the start by our builder pulling out meant me working none-stop doing loads of work myself while project managing different tradesmen when I could get them to fit jobs in. The job has taken over my life!
I only have a couple of weeks work left and it's all finished and my mind is starting to turn back to what preps I need to attend to as it has all fallen by the wayside. Hoping to be spending more time here and on the blog from now on.
At least the house is more energy efficient and secure as a result of the work.

It's a little thing, but walking all the way to a distant meeting. I was battling Achilles tendinitis for months so having got to this point feels great as I walk down lanes where I would previously have been wincing with every step.
I'm now excited about getting out there in the autumn scenery for fun.
A couple of extra army blankets arrived yesterday so I have more insulation if we do get a cold winter. I am in the middle of a long slow declutter so before winter kicks in I plan to rearrange the stores I have. At the moment I have an inventory of everything but most of it is on racks behind a pile of crates that are being sorted.

I got a grand total of seven usable apples from my tree this year, last year we had so many we didn't know what to do with them all, but this year they all got ruined by bugs.
We really need a cold winter down here to kill them off, I don't think it dropped below freezing last winter.

That is not dead which can eternal lie, and with strange aeons even death may die.

We've got a 'hippos mouth' bucket full of apples and theres maybe still another half bucket on the tree. They're a lot smaller than last year but for our purposes it'll not make a difference. We've acquired just shy of another bucket full from a friend and my mate has got a load too. Its just a pisser that I don't like cider.Jamesey1981 wrote:I got a grand total of seven usable apples from my tree this year, last year we had so many we didn't know what to do with them all, but this year they all got ruined by bugs.

we did fresh apple juice with our apples this year, still got cider from the crop last year
the trees are getting a massive prune this winter so i'm not expecting a crop next year its all to do with space
just got my hands on 2 old wooden framed french doors so that's the tops of my cold frames sorted.
and finally 'egg' the chicken is going to get it cos-she hasn't laid for quite some time she was a rescue girl so has had 4 years of extra life fully free range.

A previous neighbour of mine had apple trees which provided masses of fruit every year without fail. He told me that he put Vaseline around the base of the tree and that stopped the little blighters in their tracks.Jamesey1981 wrote:I got a grand total of seven usable apples from my tree this year, last year we had so many we didn't know what to do with them all, but this year they all got ruined by bugs.
