ordered myself a set of "re-timer" light therapy spectacles. The light box was good for seasonal affective disorder but I cant get about and do my morning tasks (breakfast, coffee, catch up with the news (frightening!)) and the like when sitting in front of the light box. So the light box now just serves the role of being a cheerful bright light when I need it and it wont be the get me up in the morning thing I need. I am back to using my blue blocking yellow wrap around spectacles to help me get off to sleep at night, but some blue light I can send into my eyes at a predetermined time in the morning to help get rid of seasonal depression will be really important for me.
Yes, I ordered the "re-timer" glasses off ebay thus saving myself about £45 on the cost of a new set and that's taking into account delivery cost too.
Also ordered myself another three month parasite cleanse from healanything.com so as to help cut down some of the nasties that accumulate in the body on the run up to the winter so that the likelihood of crippling colds will be reduced. Have started a "natures answer" black walnut, cloves and wormwood tincture cycle too along with my normal nutritional regime.

Like others, sorting out the winter medicine cabinet and making sure we have all the necessaries.
Canning 4lbs Minced Beef for the stores and I have 6lbs Chicken thighs to get done this week. The less I have to go out and buy in the winter the better.

Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 4
I tested out my hotel bag last week as I had to go to hospital, it was suspected appendicitis so I went in an ambulance but turned out to be a kidney stone, which at least made it much less serious, if no less painful. It also meant that I didn't have to stay in overnight.
It was in desperate need of something to keep me occupied, I had a book of short stories in there but didn't feel like reading, so I've now added a book of crosswords and another of logic puzzles, as well as a pack of cards. In that situation again I don't know if it would help as I was in a lot of pain so probably wouldn't have wanted them anyway, but it can't hurt to have a couple of options in there.

Hope you get better soon, Jamesey. I have a pack of cards and puzzle books too. I don't carry much else as it's a HOB and I'd be watching the telly in my hotel room

Thanks brambles, feels fine now to be honest, I've been referred up the the clinic to get it looked at but apparently they're very common and most people will have had one and not known about it, they only hurt if they get stuck or block something.
I have a pretty good tolerance for pain, but it really did hurt, I've broken bones and not noticed before but this had me on the floor.

I had heard they were painful, didn't expect it to be that painful though, was hardcore.Deeps wrote:Sorry to hear that Jamesey, I've heard they're a bugger. Hope you're sorted soon.
Should be sorted now, but apparently the most common cause is getting dehydrated, I'm pretty on top of it now but back in my kitchen and theatre days I definitely didn't drink enough water, so the lesson to take from it is to drink plenty of water or one day (years later in my case) it could come back and bite you!

I'm not always the best at keeping hydrated, I even deliberately stay dehydrated at times, it can be handy not to be busting for a pish. Something for me to consider.Jamesey1981 wrote:I had heard they were painful, didn't expect it to be that painful though, was hardcore.Deeps wrote:Sorry to hear that Jamesey, I've heard they're a bugger. Hi Jamsey,
Sorry to hear your joined the kidney stone club. I've had several. They tend to recur if you don't get sorted.
Make sure you get to that clinic as there are things to help prevent them. High fluid intake helps - over 3 L per day and it is a good thing if you have to get up at night. Avoiding oxalate containing food if it was an oxalate stone. Some medications help such as vitamin D, potassium citrate and allopurinol if it was a uric acid stone. Dont cut back on your calcium unless told to even if it was a calcium stone. (Technical reason and rather complex).
Hope you feel better soon.
