Why are you here ?
Re: Why are you here ?
I know none of my family will be doing anything to prep so the paternal instinct took over.
Re: Why are you here ?
[quote="diamond lil"]Prepping covers a lot of areas and people all have their different reasons for doing it. What's yours, and why are you here ?
Where to start, i guess when you combine certain elements of the equation, i.e wars, strikes and protests, economic collapse and my personal comlpete and utter lack of trust in the government, youd be silly not to try and be prepared for something.
I genuinely dont believe that things can continue the way they have in the last hundred years or so, especially towards the latter part of those years, if you look at the rise in population youll find some scary statistics, the rise in global population in the last 150 years or so is quite frankly phenomenal, but the problem is, we all need food and water and we all need fuel, this puts a huge strain on the earths natural resources and the effects of that just spiral out of control until they eventually hit the pockets of the system put in place to bring about order, in turn creating the exact opposite.
I guess the problems hitting us globally are ten fold in recent times, i just have a sense, an inclination, that it cannot continue and has to, "fall so it can be rebuilt again" if you will.
I hope i dont come accross too "out there", whenever you talk to frineds etc about this sort of thing you get looked at sideways more often than not, as though youre the one thats crazy for simply having your witts about you.
I suppose to sumerise, i dont trust the world today, i dont trust the systems in place and when you combine that with how much me and my girlfiend love to be outdoors camping and practising bushcraft, it makes sense to be ready for these events and we are fortunate enough to enjoy practising "survival and outdoor" skills anyway.

Re: Why are you here ?
Well one thing nobody in here is, is a sheep. We're all aware of the devious nature of TPTB. We just need to stay that way.
Re: Why are you here ?
A lot of mainstream folks are becoming aware too, guys. I spoke to a man nearing retirement age now who, because of the economic disaster is in danger of losing his lifelong job through no fault of his own (council cutbacks) and who, on reading papers and watching news, is very worried for the future of himself and his disabled wife. They certainly don`t think there`s anything out of the ordinary in prepping for the worst.
What strikes me most of all though is the sheer feeling of helplessness that`s everywhere...ok, the government is (as usual) corrupt. Who can do anything about it? We seemingly can`t...
and the economic situation is in dire need of intensive care...again, can we sort it? Apparently not...
Issues like immigration and the problems it poses (and for goodness sake, isn`t it about time we were allowed to discuss this without having others resort to cries of `racist` the minute you admit you are worried?) and again, no solution without it being called too drastic so in the end nothing is done.
Natural disasters likewise and perhaps those are the ones that create the largest feeling of helplessness, since who can fight nature?
So prepping is being seen as sensible yet even then, not quite enough. People are genuinely scared, enough to the point it is affecting the quality of life of many, and that, coupled with the financial troubles lots of folks are facing, is enough to make for some quite miserable times at the moment. These years won`t be remembered with much fondness in the future, I suspect.

Re: Why are you here ?
And meanwhile all the papers and tv can talk about is a bloody wedding. While I read the cleaners in Buck palace are on £6.45 an hour, minimum wage We're going backwards at a rate of knots !
Re: Why are you here ?
I did my level best to avoid the ruddy wedding, Lil. I worked and gardened instead.
I do watch the news on occasion though and caught the fact that the girl had spent the night before the wedding in an hotel room which cost five thousand pounds a night. That, to me, is obscene.

Re: Why are you here ?
Aye- all the silly buggers of snobs who will pay it. Meanwhile the staff will be on £6.50 an hour.. Funny life innit ?
Re: Why are you here ?
I think I must be the only one on the various survival/prepper boards who actually enjoyed it all...not so much the wedding itself, but the spectacle of the whole thing, all the Household Calvary, the pagentry etc. Makes a change and a brief escape from all the depressing junk going on in the world.
Hope you stood to attention when they played the national anthem Lil

Nope - you're not! I thoroughly enjoyed it too, CC. We watched all day, drinking champagne, and thought it was all absolutely brilliant. I got a bit choked at some points. Love a good wedding!Carrot Cruncher wrote:I think I must be the only one on the various survival/prepper boards who actually enjoyed it all...not so much the wedding itself, but the spectacle of the whole thing, all the Household Calvary, the pagentry etc. Makes a change and a brief escape from all the depressing junk going on in the world.

I particularly liked that Aston Martin - I wouldn't mind a spin around the block in that!
