Lemne: I'll second Jenny's point.
Think about the most likely Events and prep for them first.
So, currently for most people Events such as:
Unexpected Lockdown (S-I due to close contact with or symptoms of C-19)
Evacuation from home (house fire, chemical or gas leak or WHY)
Unprotected unemployment ( zero-hours contract, self-employed or shut-out)

Prepping for these will give you a good foundation for WWIII or the Zompocalypse.... However, having an INCH bag for TEOTWAWKI might not be that useful if you just need to pay the bills with no income.

To help you get on track...

Just imagine, you were to be locked in for a week with just what you could grab in a supermarket basket.

#1, Inexpensive Calories (pasta, rice, dried spuds, oats, oil) so you won't starve (Carbs)
#2, Tea, coffee, milk, beer and wine (Morale)
#3, Flexible Flavour (Tinned tomatoes, cook-in sauces, sachets) so you won't hate the calories (Vitamins and morale)
#4, Some sort of meat or substitute, such as Pek, corned beef or spam and lots of soya granules (Protien)
#5, Pulses and flour, but only if you know how to use them (Fibre)
#6, Then just augment with nicer stuff like tinned fruit and custard. Oxo, raisins, whatever you like.

#7, Try living on the above and see what you are missing, then augment and build on it.
Rinse, repeat.

DON'T devote all your energy to one aspect. Better to have a weeks worth of tinned soup and a bag of oats than a years worth of just water.

Stashing all that water only really defends against a sudden, total loss of potable water. It takes up valuable space. Assuming you get a days worth of advance warning, you could source that in a day by just filling baths and wheely bins from a hose, till you rig up some sort of harvesting/collection system. When has the UK been a dessert? Obviously have some sort of filter to hand, but don't go over the top.

.
Thanks for that. I'm pretty much ok for food now. Just a few spots to fill in now its all on the shelves and I can see it. I'm looking at food grade buckets, torches, knives, go bags, first aid, medicines etc as well as updating things at home like the vacuum. I need to concentrate on one thing and not get distracted.

Started sorting out the go bags today. I've got most of the stuff but not actually put it together. Big gaps but a step closer. Also made a batch of ploughman's pickle.

Found some rot so woods been ripped out and replaced today

Going to be a juggling act to keep the bathroom useable and get it done chemi loo is ready incase I hit a Snag when it comes to the toilet

Stop tap tested today before I started

Bath will be easy to replumb I fitted new Taps 2 years ago and all was assembled with grease on threads wish I'd got speed fit flexis

Got plastic push fit pipe and fittings for sink toilet and got bits to drop a pipe to supply a outside tap whilst I'm on with plumbing cheaper than copper and let's be fair all new houses are plumbed with it

Not prepping so much as just going with the rythm of life.Usual Sunday morning animal cleaning and feeding, and making sure there is adequate dry wood outside the back door for the next seven days.I don't need to be pratting about at 4.30 am when I clean and lay the stove!

Then I can have an hour or two playing with new fishing tackle in the workshop. Winter is upon us,and that's when I have some very good fishing,so I need good kit - well that's the lame excuse I gave to Mrs J!
In three words I can sum up everything I have learned about life: It goes on.

Robert Frost.

Covid 19: After that level of weirdness ,any situation is certainly possible.

Made the most of the great weather & cut/split/stacked my first haul of firewood. Think building another log store might be on the cards...

I'm de-stemming haw berries to go in the freezer overnight to simulate a first frost. This is almost as bad as de-stemming elderberries. Rosehips are just ready to go straight in overnight. Tomorrow I'll start cooking.

Prepping for Christmas this week, which given the looming brexit and covid issues is probably a wise move this early. Made a list ( checked it twice, and yes I know who's been naughty or nice 😉) So purchased choccy gift boxes for the littlies in the family, bought some minced pork stuffing and some chipolata sausages, vac sealed and frozen it and written down some ideas for the stuff I can make/buy over the next few weeks. Just in case! Looked out what I bought in the post Xmas sales last year in regards to cards and gift wrap. I have plenty of ribbons and fabric to use as gift wrap too.
