New house, new flood

Post by Nurseandy »

The non stop torrential rain for the last 48 hours finally overloaded the drain soakaways and the level of water on the patio exceeded the height of the back door threshold resulting in a flooded kitchen. I am of course away but partner & daughters coped admirably.
Flood sock ordered as a temporary measure and drain mods to be undertaken during my weeks annual leave next week (along with draining down the central heating to fix a radiator, servicing a car, regrouting & sealing the bathroom floor, fitting some new skirting boards (that's slipped down the list considerably) and investigate the ominous dripping sound we heard in our bedroom wall last night.........).

We will eventually get on top of this new house.

In fairness I do have a pass to go and play on my mbike and sit in a muddy field with some mates for the weekend.
I might need the diy time to allow my liver to recover! ;)

Short term would a sumbersable pump and a length of discharge hose not let you shift the water away assuming you have somewhere to pump it to

We're into the tenth week of a major renovation project. The back wall in the dining room gets wet every time it rains and we've had other floods. On the upside the roofers are here this week so we should see an end to that bit.
