Hello, from what I've been reading my situation and reasons for joining are fairly routine for this forum!.
I live in a small city in the North of England, I rent rather than own my home, and I'm curious as to what would have happened if Covid had been more serious than it was.
I was in the Army for a time, and have some understanding of what it's like to live without basic amenities (thought with the knowledge that end ex was eventually going to be called, and we'd be back in camp, with showers and beds) . I've already taken basic steps such as having a supply of food, a means to filter water etc. However I'm looking forward to getting advice that have already done the work to anticipate what sort of situations might arise.
Thank you to whomever set the forum up, and I'm looking forward to participating in discussions.

Hello and welcome to the Forum.
Although pandemics and the end of the world scenarios sell books and film plots, preparing for power cuts, flooding or gas leaks are high on people's priority lists here.
Instead of BOB's for the woods, Hotel bags are a thing.
Not to say I don't like a good read, it always throws up something I didn't think of.

Two is one and one is none, but three is even better.

Hi, welcome to the forum. I look forward to hearng your ideas and sharing info. Personally I do have a bugout bag that includes shelter and stove. I could at least survive a few days outdoors if necessary. If I was going to a hotel I'd simply ditch the camping gear, which is in a separate bag anyway (a pannier for my bike).
Yes, Covid might have been a lot worse. A future pandemic might be. I remember when it first started I was disinfecting everything and thinking how I'd seal off a room if someone got it.
A lot of the day to day talk on here is fairly mundane, like where to get the cheapest milk. Obviously we all want to curb our spending due to inflation, which is probably the biggest concern right now for many people.

Welcome to the forum - yes, your reasons are "routine", as you say, because we're nearly all in the same boat in that way - get the basics going, and check out what else we might need/want.
