Ignoring the political idiocies as you suggest, I'm okay at the moment, I think - if anything seriously bad happened, several pretty big holes would be exposed in my preps, but I severely lack the physical energy to deal with all of it at the moment. I'm doing what I can.

You mention your pension being shot to bits jansman - I haven't taken any money from my pension yet, so the small fund is still sitting there like a working person's, and I have absolutely no idea how it's doing. Not an issue at the moment - because like GeeGee said upthread, I'm kind of waiting for something massive to happen, at the same time as living a life (sister's birthday party yesterday, and my 3rd day with her little grandchild) and doing what I can on a simple prepping level so that it doesn't take over my life. As well as collecting information that I or my nephews and niece might need. The baby is very real to me now, although she's not mine directly, a lot of my focus is on ways and means to keep her safe from things that other family members don't think about, that I know of - we're not a talkative family  .

As well as my health, in relation to chronic but not lifesaving problems. My medical crate has become two crates - avoiding calling on the NHS might be the biggest contribution I can make this year.

I was on the CBD gummies, a company I was buying them on had a BOGOF deal for ones approaching their sell by date but they stopped doing the smaller tubs and only have the larger tubs at £100 for sale.

As much as I thought they helped, £100 for a big tub of gummies is something I can’t afford just now.

One of my lodgers said his pension pot had decreased in value by a big amount, but he didn't seem too concerned. He said they fluctuate anyway and it should catch back up eventually. Of course this last month has been unusual.

It’ll be what it will be. I won’t lose sleep, as heaven knows I’ve only just got that back!

Thanks for asking. Not a question I hear anymore and it's nice to hear.

I'm starting to feel the pinch in the wallet but that's mainly due to my rent increase of £100. We have also had to spend more on food due to poor harvests this year. I've almost completely ditched the car as it's costing so much more to charge and using the bicycle more.

On positive note I made bread for the first time in my life and I think I've found my new hobby! Lots of fun to make and tastier than what I was getting from the local bakery.

I'm sorry to read of members health conditions and hope for speedy recoveries.

I feel a bit as if I'm in a dream with this lovely autumn weather but knowing that this winter will bring hell for an awful lot of people. I've said before, this is how people must have felt during the phoney war, knowing that war was out there but not affecting them much on a day to day basis.

I say that because we are in the fortunate position of having final salary pensions which are being whittled away by inflation but are still enough for our needs and a fair number of our wants. Unlike a lot of public sector pensions (not all) the indexation on our pensions is capped at 3% (or 5% on a bit). But we've always been aware that inflation might come roaring back - we lived through the early 70s. What we didn't expect was that pension fund trustees had been speculating with the funds, investing in LDIs they didn't understand and calling it hedging. I think our former employers would be able to stand behind the funds but it was a bit of a stomach lurch

From a personal point of view we are trying to make sure we are in the best physical shape anno domini will permit. Husband has his second cataract op tomorrow. I had mine done several years ago. I have developed arthritis in my hip which was really affecting me badly about a year ago. I have lost 20lb and that is really helping. You have to do what you can to take responsibility for your health - Lord knows, there's enough you can't do much about when old age brings its harvest of ailments

Will do. I need to lose around 2 stone but being community based in my job, food is a fuel more than anything plus I catch my bus home right outside a M&S food hall. The Percy Pigs shout my name…

Because I work in mental health, I ask my SUs about how they are doing on a daily basis almost. I used to also ask my team to say something positive at team meetings be that about themselves or work related to try and keep a positive slant on things. It’s one thing we are not very good at in the sector and it causes a lot of burn out so we are all trying to keep each other going after the Covid chaos.

I lost 3 stone about a year ago by using a calorie counting app and sticking to the target. You put in your age, height, weight, and how much weight you want to lose each week. Most people choose 1 lb a week. The default setting is one where you are expected to burn 200 cals a day in exercise. There is another setting where you get to eat calories burned. This is for people who do a lot of exercise. So is you do 400 cals exercise a day you get to eat 400 cals. You need less cals as you lose weight, so your allowance normally drops a bit. I still use the app but I'm close to target so not really sticking to allowance most of the time. I have lost bit in the last few months.
