Hi Andy, the first aid stuff you posted in the bit that I snipped was interesting, but as for purchases, I'm *really* interested in this, the nomex fabric - on googling, I can see people sell it in lots of places, including Etsy, but I don't know enough about it to trust any information they give me. Do you have a trusted supplier? Or any recommendations?
I got some Nomex overalls off ebay, dirt cheap £26 *now £35). https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/324230801342 I was dubious, so I cut a small piece off where there is spare materiall folded back near the lapel. About 3 cm x 1.5 cm. You can't see it missing, it's underneath. I tried lighting it with a lighter. I held the flame onder the edge for several seconds. It didn't catch fire or melt. I did this several times. Eventually it was charred, but never caught fire. Finally on the last try, when it was all charred, the charred material did catch alight.
The material did NOT melt. It just went brown after being over a flame for several seconds.
My conclusion is, this is 100% genuine.
Note that there are different types of Nomex. My one is a light weight version (4.5 ounce), 93% Nomex. I think most of the other 7% is kevlar. It is bit thicker than a dress shirt I would say.

Good few years ago I went to a firework display with some mates it was a bitterly cold night I put a pair of proban overalls over my clothes and a old jacket over the top , the park land is known to be closely related to the Somme so didn't wear anything good.... Well something went Pete tong as it was blowing a gale ...and several big display grade fireworks went into the crowd we were near the front as the first one went bang I run under the safety rope and laid flat the marshalls went under tye rope away into tyr crowd  .. nearly everyone legged it the way they came in ..... There were a good few burn injuries, a good few trampled my jacket had several burn holes in the back but nothing to the overalls.. weather they offered any actual protection I'll never know but I'm glad I had them on

One bonus with nomex is washing doesn't remove protection.. proban doesnt like been laundered incorrectly

Yeah, the ebay ad for mine said good for 125 washes I think, but it's inherent, so should be good indefinitely, unlike coatings, as you say.

I think holding a lighter to an edge is more extreme than a small ember blowing off a typical wood fire. I just got them because I don't want to ruin an expensive synthetic jacket or whatever.

I rejoined ebay (! a prep in itself  ) and bought the last shirt of 9 being sold by a particular seller. Should be delivered by the middle of next week, so its stock thats in this country already, which is good. I don't have a focussed reason for buying it  but for such a useful thing, for only £13, I'm fine with that.

My apprentice came to assist in his jammys

He did a good job and the plastic spade was ideal not to damage the pipe..
