What Preps are you doing this week? Part 11
Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 11
Keeping a close eye on gas use and lodgers' room temperatures. Trying to make sure they are warm enough, but not waste gas. I know how much I want to use, based on average temperature for the day. Downstairs lodger's room is near the front door, which is single glazed, and above cellar. His room has butt jointed floorboards (stained and varnished), so you can see through to the cellar. The cellar window is split in two, and one half has no glass! I stuck some plastic sheet over it. Thank god I put a radiator down there, so I can tweak that if necessary.

Freeze dried egg came out a bit nicer today, mixed a bit thicker and cooked a bit longer. Much easier to flip. Should be able to use it all. In a blind test, not sure I could be certain it's dehydrated. When I get most of it used, I'll order some more. It's £16.50 for 500g which makes 2kg, which is 43 medium eggs, so 38p per egg, which is a bit pricey, but I think is fair for what you are getting. These are free range by the way, from Ashra foods on ebay.

Scots weather form getting seriously into next week's charts now - temps set to plunge and we will get a decent lot of snow, but too early to say exactly where. I'm trying to raise the energy to run round in circles and panic buy, but it's just not happening yet. I find a good panic takes a wee bit of time to get into now

I’m still dodging about Edinburgh without a coat so thanks for the heads up. I do have an emergency coat in the car but it doesn’t have a hood so I will look out a tammy…

Just ordered and load of mre meals for storage and a load of toiletries I'm almost able to be off grid for a year
Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 11
Just ordered from Amazon 4 x 25 portion Knorr soup mixes (makes 4.25 per tub litres).
Two is one and one is none, but three is even better.

Mmm that soup sounds good - going to order some of that. Just booked my oil boiler service - ancient boiler but the guy always tells me it’s the ‘Rolls Royce’ of boilers so try to keep it ticking over (I realise I’ve now totally jinxed this and it’ll pack up, probably when the snow starts)! Booked the chimney sweep too - we’ve got two wood burning stoves here - they were a godsend when we had no power for a week during Storm Arwen. You’ve all inspired me on here to get sorted so thank you!!
