Re: What Preps are you doing this week? Part 12
Just noticed I haven't backed up my desktop for a month, so doing that now. I have 3 external drives for this. Updates in the last few days, mac and phone, done. Most stuff is in the cloud, of course. I put important docs like tax returns in icloud as well as on disc. All my notes and spreadsheets are in the cloud. All my music. Apple Music has even uploaded my physical CDs to the cloud.
Got 5 plasic bins, biggest I could fit on prep room shelves. Filled one with stuff toileteries/hygeine stuff mainly, one with comestibles (veg gravy powder, parsley sauce powder, bags of psyllium husk and inulin), one with various prep items. Got two empty, and a bit more space on the shelves.
Booked appointment to get cleaners in. Getting too old for it. I did do a kitchen window ledge and the glass today. It's £66 an hour for two people who will be actually here, cleaning for an hour. That is their minimum, they only work in pairs, and it's a company, not people I know. Once a month should do, for now (will have to, though I could start with 2 hours, £132). I've never had a cleaner before, so not sure what to expect. Anyone got any idea how much the two of them should get done in an hour? I have hall (wood floor), stairs and landing (carpeted), bathroom, living room (wood floor), kitchen. Presumably the obvious stuff like floors, bathroom and kitchen? Boss is ringing me Fri morning to go through details.
House is still shaking, regularly, but I probably only notice cos I'm lying on my bed, typing. Beds amplify vibrations. Bit unnerving though.
Anyone see the news? My god, start a thread someone.

Timely reminder. Thankyou.
A good use of your money vs time spent. I do the same for:Frnc wrote: ↑Wed Feb 05, 2025 2:12 pm Snip> Booked appointment to get cleaners in. Getting too old for it. 1. my wood use, pay someone to split it, dry kiln it and deliver it.
2. cutting my grass.
Two is one and one is none, but three is even better.

We’re in our eighties so we too have to “delegate” some jobs, cutting the grass and the trees. power washing the patio, cleaning the gutters (i’m banned from climbing ladders). This winter will probably be the last one humping coal

Had coal fires all my life Peter - and propane for cooking - until 4 years ago, have never missed it and now appreciate gas central heating.
