I bought another solar PIR light for the front of the house and one for my Dad as although he has wired lights at the back of the house he is now struggling to see the key hole to his back door, hopefully this will help a little. I have also invested in one of those cameras which fit inside the window to monitor the front door rather than one of the door bell types which I am not fond of. Him indoors and I tend not to buy each other presents these days, I have got him a couple of bits, but decided to make his BOB one of his presents and am currently choosing items to go in it. Not sure he will appreciate it as much as I will enjoy making it, but I might throw a couple of bars of chocolate in the bottom which will keep him interested :D

BOB for HID is a fantastic idea I'm sure you'll enjoy making and he'll appreciate. More food for thought for me regarding front door lighting. I'm a bit skint this month but will make it a priority. My only snag is I need to mount it onto brick. I may be able to do it myself.

Went to my parents last night to pick the boy up after work .. to be met with a long faced dad... He had pulled his honda generator out to test it, Pulled it off and it was smoking like a 40 a day smoker...... He pulled the oil cap / dipstick and a mix of oil and petrol poured all over the floor...
Bless him he'd been pricing up a new generator thinking it was knackered

So I was in my work uniform (covered in a weeks worth of oil and grease) so promptly took charge .. put a tray down and just tipped the oil out the filler hole no point in being subtle about it ...

Took the carb bowl off and freed up the float needle

Slapped some 5w30 oil in (we've lots of that left from the old mower. Before he went to a battery one ..)

Pulled it off and promptly vanished in a dense cloud of exhaust emissions that will have probably raised sea levels by 2" and delayed this winter by 5 weeks

Got a 2kw fan heater on it and made it work hard and warm up after about 5 minutes the smoking stopped as it burned of the oil and fuel from the exhaust

This morning I'm off to the local motor factors to get some 10w30 honda oil drain the 5w30 out this should remove any remaining contaminated oil and refill properly with the correct stuff

Glad he found it now rather than in a emergency when it was needed
If your roughing it, Your doing it wrong ;)

Lack of planning on your part doesn't make it an emergency on mine

Checked all the dates in my food cupboard. Got a bit, but plenty of space for more now I have the lodgers' two cupboards.

Put back a couple of prep things I borrowed for a trip away, and something from my bike bag. It's bad practice to borrow from preps, especially from a BOB, but I don't do it often, and I do make a note and put them back. One was a magnifier, I may buy one or two more, anyway.

Ordered AAA batteries, some wood glue to repair a drawer, 5 x long life Spice Tailor curry that is my favourite, and Sainsbury's don't stock, a cloth tape measure, and a small hard case for an external drive.

Sorted my cleaning cupboard. Is more organised. Was a glass bottle of old vinegar on it's side, hidden among cloths, waiting to smash on my tiled floor. Binned.
