I can't comment because the thread is now locked, but just wanted to point out that these' fence electrifiers' (it's my understanding) are AC current , therefore the current will 'throw you off' so to speak. Introduce a DC current like the old boy with the car battery in the news item, and the poor cat will stick to it until the current is switched off.

Hope this clarifies concerns some may have regarding the ethics of using such a measure
