Dies the fire, S M Stirling
Dies the fire, S M Stirling
Dies the fire by S M Stirling is an excellent read. It's the first in a series of 7 all of which ill highly reccomend! The first book has a lot if great ideas and I think its a very real look at what might happen, to a point lol. The other books of his that I've read are also brilliant.

I just received this from Amazon a few days ago. I haven't started it yet - a bit too much going on this time of year, but I look forward to it. The cover does look dismal though!

Nice read.
Good ideas (damn you alien space bats) And some tough moral choices. Things to make you go hmmmmmmm.
I got as far as the end of The Protectors War (?). However as a person of 'that ' persuasion he got on my wick constantly harping on about the Clans beliefs. It all got a bit embarrassing and cringe making.
On the other hand I've currently got a project going to make SHTF War Arrows (for entertainment purposes only) with 15mm spines.

I know where your coming from ogre I tend to filter all that crap out of whatever I'm reading so didn't notice it so much! I guess it was another nudge in the prepping direction as although the premise is beyond the realms of possibility I think the aftermath was quite realistic. I too was inspired to a bit of archery and am now working on my second selfbow though my arrows are pretty poor!
