Just a quick question and to head sheds please remove if it has already been asked.......
So lets set the scene, when your sitting around at home on your day off work and the SHTF and the world goes all crazy what are your Immediate actions lets say the first 5-10 things you would do....
I ask because myself and my oppo were discussing this the other day with the WAGS and it was funny how different and similar our responces would be.
What are your Immediate actions on......?
Re: What are your Immediate actions on......?
Leave whatever I am doing and get regular updates of the situation from radio etc.
If I am able to leave work then I would collect my children from their educational establishments. If not, then OH would do that.
On the way home stop at supermarket/local shop to fill a trolley or two if its not too mad!
Rendezvous at home.
Make a decision of what to do next based on intel from radio/internet/TV. If that is not available I would gather the neighbours to formulate a plan of action to hunker down (I have only 4 properties by me and although we have not discussed 'prepping' issues I am sure that in a crisis we would pull together. Also helps that one neighbour -being a landowner - probably has a gun and is a very useful guy to have around!).
Just a few thoughts - how I might react at the time could be very different.

1. Cup of tea.
2. Sit down.
3. Listen to news (World Service) to confirm degree and extent of problem.
4. Mentally review preps and delineate response.
5. Wait for developments.
6. Perhaps another cup of tea. What is there to get excited about? All is in hand.

it would depend on the emergency,
the most likely 5 are,
if the power grid is likely to fail country wide and remain off for days or weeks, first port of call is fill all the water containers including the bath and sink.
phone friends and family,

1. Have a cup of tea.
2. Check location and recall all family (and group if applicable).
3. Fill every possible container with water and ensure all batteries are charged.
4. Check vehicle is ready and put in extra equipment.
5. If it appears safe go shopping, fuel, water, food.
6. Secure home location and sit tight
Interesting exercise and very situation specific. 2 of my shtf scenarios result in bugging out (flooding and nuclear accident at local power station) so I hadn't really considered my plans leading up to departure or if we were staying in situ. Items on the list would be moved around, done concurrently or eliminated depending on precise scenario. I'm sure I've missed some too lol Thanks for the thought prompting
Eta: interesting were all after a cup of tea...

My instinct says: Do whatever I can to protect whatever I have got. That includes using strategic lookout posts around the house etc. Quite mad really
My rationality says: Remember to breathe. Assess the situation. Act appropriately taking into account the lowest level of Maslow's hierarchy of needs first.
Hopefully I wont be so panicked by the situation that I end up listening to my instinct.
Must get back to meditation practice

First thoughts are.
1. Set the Bulk water Containers to fill.
2. Let family know we have a SHTF.
3. Get across the valley to my local Lidl with the cash that's cached.
4. Get purchases home and stored.
5. Put house and personal defences in place.
6. Go into 'Fort Mode' for the duration.
