Trains have a habit of breaking down when the weather goes bad, so I fully expect to have to trudge along a train track/through the snow at some point... :D
I have to go to Cheltenham on Wed. The reason I decided not to drive was because of the weather - but the trains seem to be far wose than the roads. *sigh*
Yes, it's a gamble either way. Best to keep a regular eye on the travel news. And the Google Maps live traffic info is very handy.

Make sure you pack some winter gear in your car or on your person. Which I'm sure you have sorted already!

Committed to the train now, as work have paid £171.00 for a train ticket (and TPTB wonder why people don't use the railways!!!). I will be travelling with an emergency overnight kit in my bag, and wearing jeans, thermal walking boots and a ski jacket. I don't honestly care what I look like at the meeting.

I can now confirm that my wind-up radio is an absolute crock of sh*t.

One minute of winding like a madman equals about 5 seconds of radio. Utter crap, and going into the bin. Will now be putting the battery radio into my EDC.

I bought one from Tesco for about £7.00. I tested it at home, and about two minutes of winding got me over 30 minutes of radio time.

Yeah, wherever I look on the internet, everyone has had decent performance out of them. I think my one is a duff one. At best it's only ever given me the same radio play time as winding time. Now, it gives me a matter of seconds. I winded it for 5 mins this morning, and I got maybe 10 seconds out of it.

Worst comes to the worst, I can turn the handle while listening, to get news bulletins. But for now I'm packing my batt radio, which is only slightly bigger.

Well, having upset the apple cart with my previous post I retreated under a rock a little embarrassed. So, a few weeks on I logged back on and realised how much Ide let my preps go because of it; so, a trip to aldi today, and Ive added:
200 multi vit tabs
2x pack of sanitary items for the boss
2x jars of olives (which are the devils food but good sources of fat)
10x tuna
10x mackerel
4x tinned veg
2x tinned pineapple
4x tins of beef stew
1x bottle mouthwash
2x jars of bratwurst (my guilty pleasure)
Filled the car to the top (not economical carrying all that fuel, I know, but better to be safe than sorry)
Mrs 7p's pickled 2 more jars of onions, 1 of eggs and 1 of beetroot.
