personally i think when the shtf we will be happy to eat anything, i dont think people will be worried about getting bored with the same food for a week.

I agree and re kids from personal experience when they get hungry enough they will eat whatevers infront of them

I can maybe clear up a misconception here . . . The MH "big tins" once opened contain individually mylar packaged portions that have an out of the tin shelf life of a lot longer than a few days (I think that 1 year is the norm).
Once these packages are opened they need to be eaten quickly.


MH or other brand tinned long life preps seem like poor value for money unless you consider the following....
1) how long will you spend rotating, buying, storing, and checking food supplies that have a short BBD.
(time and effort that can go into other preps or working to get money to buy other preps.)
2) The worry factor that you "dont have enough" to make up meals for a set time.... the freeze dried goods are packed in meals with a set calorific content. Do the sums and stock what you will require.

All in all I have to say Im a fan.

Makes them even better value in my opinion
When funds allow I will purchase some because as you have said it takes a lot of time/worry/space out of food prepping
