i just know i'll get shot down for this but, i would rather be alone where i am than be with 50 mates in a city [/quote]
I know what you mean mate plus if CME/solar flare hits, or we get EMP-attacked by anyone (friend or foe) then my city is going to be a right death trap
You're right
1 person alone = 1 mouth to feed + 1 body to heat + 1 hole in the ground to dig (makeshift toilet)
You won't have to come up with as much firewood, food, water, fuel as a big group might
Less chance of disagreements
Less herd mentality
Less panic and rumour spreading
Less stress if you have to deal/talk to people not as mentally secure or held-together as yourself
Yeah, you are right in many ways and I'd trade positions with you in an instant HOWEVER those who prepare even the slightest, will have 100 times better chance of surviving than anyone else! I know people who don't even have 1 days worth of food/water let alone a week, and car tank is flirting between NEARLY EMPTY and "running on fumes".......
What are your Immediate actions on......?
Re: What are your Immediate actions on......?
been looking at the supper markets and shops in my area and apart from tesco thay all have electric shuters on the doors and windows so if the power went out at night nobody not even the staff can get in and as for the small corner shops thay all have high security my local ones have shuters on the frount and the backs of the shops have high walls with barbed wire on them with steel bars on the windows and steel shuters for doors so if the s**t its the fan i think the smaller shops are going to bug in and keep the food for them selfes

Very few shutters have been known to stop a heavy vehicle hitting them thoughchris8472 wrote:been looking at the supper markets and shops in my area and apart from tesco thay all have electric shuters on the doors and windows so if the power went out at night nobody not even the staff can get in and as for the small corner shops thay all have high security my local ones have shuters on the frount and the backs of the shops have high walls with barbed wire on them with steel bars on the windows and steel shuters for doors so if the s**t its the fan i think the smaller shops are going to bug in and keep the food for them selfes

If the SHTF a small corner shop is the very last place I'd want be by bugging in. See the recent riots ? The big shops/shopping centres were the only places to get any sort of official protection, the local smaller shops were left to fend for themselves, and we all saw how that turned out.
I'm in Area 7 !

you are so right, although in my case there will be 2 of us(self & OH), but i have always argued that a smaller group after TSHTF will be easier to hide and feed, as they dont need as much as a larger group, less food, less water, less firewood etc. etc. i agree that anyone who preps just a little is better off than someone who dosent, i know people in the city who buy food on a daily basis, i suppose you could say that way you get it when it is most fresh, but they dont stock any, and i know people in my old neighbourhood who dont store any food cos they live in flats over the shops. i dont let my petrol tank go below half full(ever) and refill straight away, never mind what day or time it is or even at what cost, living in a rural area people HAVE to rely on their cars as there isnt any real alternative.
