LOL,
an ASDA superstore (ideally with a number of gun turrets)!!!
Enough food to eat, enough alcohol for me to distill into fuel, enough sugar to ferment into more alcohol for fuel, enough roof space for my own solar and wind farm, enough storage space for me to grow mushrooms in it.....

Get a cheapish 'doer-uppa' with about 3 acres and plenty of outbuildings, preferably as far away from a town as I can reasonably get (quite easy in Bulgaria), and grow our own food, livestock, cut our own fuel, most of the out of the way smallholdings have their own wells (at least one), generate our own electricity and just chill out and watch the world go by living as simple a life as possible. 8-)

Chef, that sounds lovely, and just what I want too, but in Wales, in Snowdonia.

I'd love a nice chunk of land near the South East coast or in Scotland but the cost of living over here compared to Bulgaria is just too much, out there it's just soooo cheap. There is the language barrier, cyrillic languages aren't easy to learn but I'll get there, I've read just about every blog by an expat in BG that there is and most went out with a phrase book and all the good will in the world, a few have returned, most have stayed though.

Last I read it was the only country in the EU whose economy was on the up, when you're that poor there's only one way it can go UP lol. :D

40C in the summer and -35C in the winter depending where you are, truly wild forest, wolves, bears, wild boar, mountains, plains (Danube Delta), beaches on the Black Sea, a loners paradise and my son is all up for it so he can do the heavy digging and muck out the stock, he loves his Dad.

Just hope I get there as planned. :)

The other thing you need to remember is that if the S hits the fan then as an outsider you will be the first to be dealt with unless you have something special that they want/need, no matter how long you have lived amongst a native population you will always be alien to them.

I'd rather take my chances with the Bulgarians than half the Brits I've met, :D and I plan on being well armed, for hunting/self defence.

just found my ideal location, 3 bed VERY detached cottage, in a valley with running water and woods all around, 2 miles from a very small village, in the middle of nowhere, good sized gardens, large workshop, several sheds, greenhouse and potting shed, off road parking, solid fuel heating, very little passing traffic-maybe 1 car a day, now all i need is £285K to buy it!

Symantec the antivirus vender have a large extremely modern bunker in the UK. The location is well protected with lots of room for growing stuff up top.

I like the area I live in, farming/shooting country so lots of game etc, I would though like to buy a more detached house that is a bit more isolated.
If you think you can do it, you're right.
