John has made some good stuff there, He even sent me over a US gallon of his maple syrup, absolutely wonderful stuff, shame he sent it with the "John's Gunshop Vermont USA" label on the box, So I received a box sealed up with Customs tape

Good stuff I can't see why that wouldn't work, be interesting to see how long it lasts.

I can't abide 'spreads' I'd rather eat proper butter and clog up my arteries, not that I believe butter is as bad for you as some purport it to be. ;)

My Dad was brought up on bread n dripping, dripping on toast, everything cooked in lard, etc., etc., and is still going strong at 72. My Nan was brought up on worse than that and she only died last December aged 96, day before her birthday, bit of a bummer but hey she was born with a hole in the heart, not a bad ol run. ;)

Butter is the nuts and if you haven't got a cow, then canning it is all good by me. :D

Ah that's not bad then, if I remember rightly it's only the oxidisation that causes butter to go rancid, so air tight should keep for a fair while, I'll have to look into salting it as I mentioned elsewhere, it used to be salted in barrels on the old sailing ships, but then they did eat some 'iffy' stuff in those days. LOL
