the best knife is the one you have on you when you most need one!!

Couldn't agree more!bulldogeagle wrote:the best knife is the one you have on you when you most need one!!
Also make it a sharp one. My choice BTW is always a Swiss Army Knife. Fairly legal and dead useful.

Re: Knives, what's your choice?
Old Marksman folding/lock, with a blade about 2.75" cost about a fiver 8 or 9 yrs ago, SS blade, alloy scales, rock solid and sharp enough to shave with, does what it's sposed to, it cuts.
Got a couple of others, butterfly knife (stays indoors) and an old thing with what looks like brass and black leather banding along the handle, got William (somethin)gers on it, Sheffield? Found that one years ago.
Only ones I actually ever use daily are the Marksman and a 10" chefs knife.

Re: Knives, what's your choice?
I had the Fallkniven A1 some years ago, before I stupidly allowed myself to give it to a friend. It was a first class knife.
In the same class is my current number, and I won't be giving it away, the Bark River Bravo 1.

Knives, what's your choice?
Folder: buck 110
Fixed: boker magnum
Utility: leatherman blast
Reasonably priced and the quality is good for the price point.
Got some cheap Chinese folders I got via britishblades which are actually very good for the money!
You need some way to keep 'em sharp too! I've got one of the lansky multi hone sets which is great but slow!

Re: Knives, what's your choice?
Mmmmm, I've always wanted to get a quality knife so am reading with interest. I have a day to day sak, which is great. A basic mora knife for when I'm in the forest, and I have a reserve mod standard knife which I keep just in case.
Re: Knives, what's your choice?
Did have 14 woodlores/clones, but down to 2 now
Two is one and one is none, but three is even better.
Re: Knives, what's your choice?
Helle Harding is superb. I carry a Bernie Garland Bushcrafter when I go deep in to the woods in Sweden because it was made for me and its great. I would never take a knife over an axe though...
