Ro - I did the same. I couldn't stop reading it. Was shattered by the end of the working week as I'd been up until around 2am every night with my nose stuck in the book!

In three words I can sum up everything I have learned about life: It goes on.

His perception of how people will behave is spot on.

People who think it isnt and everyone will be lending each opther cups of sugar will be the easiest pray available.

Law and a fear of it is the only glue holding this "society" together.

Agreed. That was what disturbed me most about the book. Not the fact that the oil had stopped flowing, but how quickly society broke down and sank into utter anarchy. That played on my mind for ages after I'd finished the book.

Yes it was horrible.

I’d hate to think about what would happen to my grandparents etc.

I’ve lived in inner cities and at one place we were REALLY concerned the family below us would come THROUGH their ceiling and into our flat. (yes they were THAT bad).

I am 100% certain this family would systemically go from house to house like in the book.

We once had a serious power cut and they did something not far from that!
