Greetings from new Cumbrian Prepper

Hello from South Cumbria. I'm glad I found this site, I was beginning to think the yanks were the only ones who were into prepping.

I am new to prepping but realise that I have been slowly coming to a point where I believe that sitting on ones hands is not an option. I think I would rather be ready for a SHTF situation and not need what I have put by, than not prep and wish I had. The question is how far do you take this? A box of matches and a candle - or a years supply of everything?

You've made a start by realising you need to do something. Have a good look around the site, if you have any questions please ask.

As regards food, most people initially aim to store enough for 3 months and then build on that. Hope that helps.

There can be no set plan for prepping - everyone on the forum is different from each other, we prep for different things, we have different skills, we do things differently.... I've been reading "The Prepper's Pocket Guide" by Bernie Carr and she gives several easy stages of food storage etc and how to make a gentle start that would fit today's tight budgets.
I've got it on my Kindle and I'm picking up some useful tips from it even though it is primarily for the American market. It is aimed at new preppers.
