Re: Goblin stew steak at 99p store
i did the same when branston beans were on 3 for 99p
did the same with bacon grill and luncheon meat , why do they look at you like you`ve lost your marbles .
asda are still doing simmer soups 3 for a £1 , makes around a pint .depending on how thick you want it
pasta soups are 4 for £1 , just add hot water stuff .

YES i walked away mid sentence , you were boring me to death and my survival instincts kick in .
Re: Goblin stew steak at 99p store

Re: Goblin stew steak at 99p store
I have found that tinned stuff from pound shops tends to have quite short shelf life. I guess they get it in cheap when suppliers stocks nears the end of the shelf life ? I know Tescos for example only accept deliveries when it has at least 11 out of 12 months shelf life remaining. The short shelf life isn't a problem if you are going to rotate regularly, but not so great if it sits at the back of the cupboard. Personally I go through my tins every 3 months and anything with 3 months or less remaining will go on the 'to be eaten before next review' shelf.

Re: Goblin stew steak at 99p store
i take it you dont put the new tins at the back of the cupboard and move the old stuff to the front so it gets eaten first??
Re: Goblin stew steak at 99p store
Ideally, yes I do, but sometimes stuff can sit on the shelf for a while and go out of date anyway, hence I review my tins and check theres nothing coming close to its BB date. (and yes, I realise BB dates are fairly conservative on most tins )bulldogeagle wrote:i take it you dont put the new tins at the back of the cupboard and move the old stuff to the front so it gets eaten first??
The 'review' also helps me check what is used regularly and what isn't -> store what you eat and eat what you store, mantra...
