brief intro: am based in the SW and am trying hard to self sufficient. Have chickens, ducks, geese, bees and a lidl cat called Maddie. Grow some of my own veg and fruit but would like to grow more. Make my own butter, cheese, wine, liqueurs, soap, jams, preserves, brown sauce, ketchup, hand creams, furniture polish....... etc etc. Can knit, crochet, sew, quilt, make clothes, dab hand at carpentry....... etc etc. Only thing I can't do is ride a bike - honest!!!!
Prepping has probably developed out of my wish to be completely self sufficient - plus a healthy dose of concern about your every day, run of the mill pandemic, tsunami, terrorist attack, nuclear accident, amargeddeon and zombie invasion
Have read a LOT of survival books but they all seem to come out of the US and - no offence to our cousins across the pond - are very gun-toting, die-hard, OTT reading. Having read parts of this forum, am pleased to find a bit more stiff-upper-lip, down-to-earth type advice
Hope I can contribute something here
