Hello from Area 6

Hello guys.

Intro:
I would think that my main motivation for joining this forum is twofold -firstly to ensure that my prepping is heading in the right direction and secondly to share/trade skills and advice.
Working in isolation has it's short term benefits but I believe that for longer term survival, teamwork will be required -even though I do like my own company. With the population density of the UK, it is unlikely we all will be able to find the idyllic wilderness BOL.

My profession is linked to the Power Industry, so my practical skills may prove useful to both power plant infrastructure rebuilding (my current assignment in Iraq) and also to community services restoration.
Physical items are normally traded in emergency situations but I'm sure most of us will recognise that practical skills are just as useful.

Skills:
Work related: Mechanical fitter (welding, machining, maintenance), electrical (domestic & industrial -upto 400kV), basic electronics, motor vehicle, power generation systems (coal, gas, oil), industrial water treatment systems, electrical generators (large and small), heating and ventilation.
General: Survival, self sufficiency, prepping.

Keep up the great work and hopefully we will never need to test our preparedness.

I'm glad to see so many skilled, enthusiastic and like-minded people.
Every skill we have is useful but if we fail to prepare, our skills may not get a chance to be used.
