Have got some christmas money and have talked to OH about investing in an air rifle.
BUT I don't know where to start. We have a local gunshop, but would look very stupid going in not having any knowledge about them.
Would appreciate some advice, ideas, questions to ask and what to look for, and personal reccomendations.
Thanks

Air Rifles
Re: Air Rifles
There are people on here more qualified than me to give you advice on Air Rifles but have you got an Air Rifle club near you ? You would get the chance to try out a few different models, get some advice, and maybe find a decent second hand one for sale in the club. I believe the club fees are relatively cheap and you would also have a regular place to practice.
Re: Air Rifles
Everyone feels silly if they feel they know nothing but trust me - most local gunsmiths (those that are left) are only too happy to spend time with you to find something that you are comfortable with. They need the regular custom more than a quick sale.
I've taken a dozen people to my local shops and the one's who think they know something are often the one's I regret taking the most!

Re: Air Rifles
Sue, I am also looking to get an air rifle. Or an air pistol perhaps??? I haven't got a scooby doo where to start either, other than to say that I need something as easy to use, and inexpensive as poss - and also something that would be easy to repair should an accident befall it!
Re: Air Rifles
OMG - I don't want to beat any small animals to death - only marauding chavs
Re: Air Rifles
No! I don't want to have to get that close to them - I want to shoot the f**kers!Northern Raider wrote:itsybitsy wrote:OMG - I don't want to beat any small animals to death - only marauding chavs
Not even small cuddly cute little critters that recently been chewing on the rotting decaying remain of months old food and long dead victims of the collapse, who now want to enter your food prep area ?
Air Rifles
On that note may I suggest the highly tuneable gunpower stealth, which is not only a take down air rifle, which means it can fit in your ruck sack.

Re: Air Rifles
I've got an air pistol it's little more then a toy, wouldn't wana get a BB in my eye tho lol, gona be looking into air rifles myself soon.
Re: Air Rifles
Forget Air pistols their vastly under powered, go for an Air Rifle at FULL POWER 12ft/lbs, my main post SHTF rifle is a Weirhauch 95 springer air rifle with an old BSA Meteor springer for backup! my SMK XS 78 co2 gun is kept for plinking at the gun club!
Re: Air Rifles
Air Rifle, why stop at an air rifle?
Why not join a local Archery Club? There's target archery for the serious minded or field archery for those who like to have more fun. A great way to get out in the fresh air at the weekends. Don't tell them you're a Prepper though!
