No idea on the powders and never heard of peanut butter powder myself. Peanut butter in a jar should last years if it is unopened and stored at room temperature. The moisture content in peanut butter is very low (~2%) so fungi and bacteria can't live in that. Also, because it has so much oil, water can't get into it. I've read of people eating 6 year old peanut butter from unopened jars/packets and it was still good. I'd be careful of doing that myself, but probably won't think twice about eating from a jar that's been on shelf for 2 or 3 years. Storing peanut butter jars will take up more space, but other than that I don't see a down side?

ps. I love peanut butter and it wasn't even on my list of food stuffs to keep  Added it now :D

Ferricks - you * - didn't think of there. Bought the PB Powder; found a tomato powder supplier; will hold off on the cheese powder as £20 for 1lb!

Juvecu - yes, I have (ahem!) quite a few jars of PB  I opened one up this morning and the seal hadn't sealed properly. Spread it on my toast anyway. OMG! It was RANK!!!! Anyway, wanted to get some powder as (a) I have a few American survival cookbooks that call for it (b) stores well (c) would be great to put in a BOB [many overseas rescue missions send out PB as a rescue food as it is apparently a complete food group in its own right {protein, salt, sugar, fat etc}] and (d) I am nosey!!!

Oh yes, and it is 85% less calories than normal PB

Want to get the tomato powder as I have a "condensed soup" powdered base that I have mixed up and want to add tomato powder to have home made powdered soup for emergencies.

I'd never heard of peanut butter powder either :o and would also stick with the jars as maximising the calories to hand would be more the name of the game for us.
I have a strategy, it's not written in stone, nor can it be, this scenario has too many variables, everything about it depends on those variables, being specific is not possible.
