Hi All,
just thought i would join this forum to meet like minded people. I am very interested in this idea, I am completely new to this so still finding my feet.
I have seen the programs of people mass storing food, bunkers etc... this is great but i think many people are missing the point. should the worse case scenario happen i think the human race would be devastated with the loss of knowledge, this would have a massive impact on us. My personal views are that knowledge should be what everyone is storing not just basic 's like food and it should be stored in multiply locations to ensure that basic knowledge that has taken mankind many years to obtain isn't wiped out. Now don't get me wrong prep. to ensure you survive the initial stage is great but when technology that we have hoarded fails how will we repair it? even simple process like turning stone to metal, or sand to glass? if we don't make notes on how to do even the simple things then it will be like throwing mankind back a thousand years let alone repairing computers etc.
I suppose what i am saying is i would like to have myself prep. ready for the worse case scenario and to ensure i can survive the initial fall out from what ever disaster hits but then would also like to be prep. and work as a group with like minded individuals who are keen to learn and record all knowledge that we may need for the future so that we can re-build and live in relative comfort without being thrown back a thousand years.
Anyway keen to hear your feedback and to know if anything like this is currently happening?
Also on a further note i am very good at survival skills and would be more then happy to share my knowledge of these with anyone should you be interested.
Also anyone who lives in Essex Hertfordshire want to meet up let me know.
Chech.

Hi chech welcome to the forum intresting point I think you will find that although we might not say it on the forum most of us will have books that we could not live without as we all need our memorys jogged now and again
My concern is that paper will rot so paper making and printing could be handy for the shtf. By the way im in hertfordshire

hello chech and welcome to the site , as for books you are spot on , technology cant be relied on if the power goes down , books can be i have a small library covering a lot of subjects, i also have a loathing for e-readers guess thats an age thing !! yep they hold a lot of books but if the battery goes and you cant recharge it is worse then a stone ! were as a book can still be read and if worse comes to worse it will also keep you warm!!

Hi Junmist, Tigs,
Thanks for your replies.
Junmist,
I think you are right but, we should go further then just having printing equipment, we should have the knowledge on how to make paper, how to make printing ink and presses, our supplies could quickly run out, machines can break and we would be left with nothing. i am currently working towards stockpiling books and information. i would be keen to hear what people would think is important? i.e. what types of stone can be turned into metals etc.. types of trees and there properties, how to make paper etc.
Tigs,
i fully agree with you there could be a number of reason's why electronic devices fail there for it is essential to store books of various knowledge. i even think storing history books would be beneficial, after all you have to know where you are coming from to know where you are going....
