I've probably got a years worth of basics such as rice, pasta, flour, tinned meats, vegetables etc which I rotate but are stored in the house and I don't take any special care to store.
If I'd come across a lot of 25l buckets with lids and bought some mylar bags and O2 absorbers and wanted to lay down one bucket load of food a month for long term storage what should I include.
Should I lay down 25L of rice one month and then 25L of wheat or flour the month after and so on? I'd prefer to have a mix but 25L isn't an awful lot really.
So what mixture, any one got an opinion? Is there anything that should definitely be included or definitely should not be included. Are there things that should not be mixed?
Any advice and opinion greatfully recieved.
Storage suggestions
Re: Storage suggestions
bearing in mind once you open a "bucket" then you ideally should use up whats in it, it might be better to work each bucket as a weeks supply of core ingredients.
if you still have space, add in things like toilet paper/wipes/gas canisters etc
