What Preps are you doing this week
Re: What Preps are you doing this week
A lot of flooding around where I am is in places that never experienced it before, so the owners are totally unprepared for it. The reason for this is all the recent flood protection work that has been done to protect all those places that used to be flooded has just moved the problem on somewhere else. The water has to go somewhere in the end !
I'm in Area 7 !
Re: What Preps are you doing this week
We don't have any flood defences as they are not needed in the area. The flooding around here is caused merely by the amount of water falling from the sky, coupled with falling autumn leaves.
This happens every year in the usual places, just not in some of the places, this year.

Shot 9 pigeons decoying on Friday. Today we had Pigeon Casserole with homegrown carrots. Awesome.

Now that my bag foil blankets and glow sticks have arrived I can put them in my emergency bag in the car. Will also be doing some bulk food shopping for storing, and putting lots of exciting bits and pieces like head torches and two way radios on my Amazon wishlist for Santa! I think I need to get more organised though and make a list of short and long term goals with regards to prepping and purchases, so I'll try and do that this week if my toddler gives me 5 mins peace...
Re: What Preps are you doing this week
Just done my shopping which was great as I was out of everything appart from rice and lentils which i was keeping for.... erm..... a rainy day kinda thing. no pun intended.... Ok, yes there was a pun intended. got to make light of the shit weather somehow.
Got PLENTY of value tinned carrotts from tesco and 7 packs of instant mash at 20 p each which could probably buy me an extra day survival indoors. Also stocked up on kidney beans (tins of) and the like.
The cupboard above the extractor hood on the stove is so jam packed of stuff I doubt if I could get anything more in. its all rice, mung beans, dried mashed potatos and lentils, but it sure is full.

It is a nice feeling,Nick, when the cupboards are full.

We have run out of room in the kitchen cupboards so after a B&Q run we now have shelving in the garage. The bottom shelf is already full with 10x5 litre bottled water from the Co-Op. Off today to procure a split charging relay for the "Beast"

Starting to use the cupboards under the beds for 1 week boxes and while I fill them gradually I'm going to number them and date them and list what is in each one with copies of this in my file. It should make it easier to rotate stuff back into the household properly. I'm keeping the boxes relatively small to allow for the weight of tins etc.

Re: What Preps are you doing this week
Rearranged our whole house pretty much.. moved all the tinned stores in to a cupboard in the bedroom, Moved some cupboards out of the dining room in to the utility room to store cleaning supplys, used the now empty cupboard already in the utility room that used to house tins, to store bottled water.
Also did some shopping and added some dried noodles, tins of spaghetti and HotDogs, restocked the loo rolls..
I think we probably have enough food to last 4-6 months for up to 10ppl on rations.. tho with the stock of rice and pasta we could prolly eek that out a bit!

hi majestic, with regards to gas ram air rifles theoben has gone bust, so unsure where to get gas rams repaired now, and i know people that have bought HW's with the gas ram's fitted and had problems getting them serviced.

checked over car and got it ready for winter weather
re organized chooks hopefully they should keep a little warmer
located and split some ash
picked up some venison
researched gas ram air rifles for a purchase at some point
also loaded the car for a 300 mile trip with some in case of snow items - didn't have to use them but did make me think and plan.
