I dunno, to be honest I’ve always thought the opposite....in reality there’s very few differences.diamond lil wrote:In reality theres very few similarities ELM. America is huuuuge with loads of empty space, we are tiny- and down south, overcrowded as hell. They have guns, we don't. Not much use copying their style of prepping here too closely. Just take out of it what applies (and ignore the silly stuff !)
According to their census 90% of Americans live in urban areas far bigger and scarier than anything Southern England has to offer. Sure it’s a big country and we are a small Island but as part of the E.U, Brits have as much right to move to the wildness’s of central and Eastern Europe as Americans do to the wilds of Montana or Wyoming…they don’t for much the same reasons, access to jobs and public services mainly.
Guns are another often cited difference but truth is it's no harder to get a shotgun certificate in this country as it is a provisional driving licence, why more people don't...I don't know. FAC's are a little harder but you join a gun club...which might be a good idea for some of these yanks that buy a AR15, stick it in the wardrobe and only shoot it a few times a year.
So I wouldn't say its necessarily 'their style of prepping' so much as another level of prepping that most in this country haven’t reached (to be fair neither have most American preppers). All depends what you want out of it I suppose.
