I have a pair of Barska 10X25 compact binoculars in my kit. Had them for a few years now, and they suit me well. I don't usually EDC them, but I always take them with me when I go camping or hiking, and especially when bird watching. (the feathered variety) Although, I could do with a more powerful pair for the purpose of bird watching. Optics are a very useful piece of kit and can give you an advantage in many situations. I'm planning on getting a monocular at some point for my EDC purposes to save on space and weight.

As some one else said ex forces and never go out with out my monocular around neck with my medi alert dog tags, metal mirror in my coat pocket along with my compass. Old habits die hard.

I bought a Vortex monocular for my EDC a year or so ago. Nice little thing, and more powerful than my binos. Although I got out of the habit of carrying it, and it currently resides in a draw upstairs...

I think I'll start carrying it again, as I'm currently using my large rucksack.

Sorry slightly of topic but I'm a photographer and wondered if it would go with my digiscope with my dSLR, can I be nosey and ask what the magnification Is?

It's sounds a tad heavy but if it works it works and if it isn't broke don't bother fixing it that's my motto
