thats a very good idea, i have not thought of a solar dehumidifier, i'm quite tech savvy so i might experiment with different solutions and who knows i might even invent something useful lol, and the idea of dried veg and fruits is excellent i will write a recipe book after my experiment and post link on this thread in a couple of months thanks for your input friends you've been really helpful
if i am able to build a solar dehumidifier then i will make a youtube video and an instructables.com ebook step by step guide on how to build but it may take me a while lol
how to make long-life food that lasts 25years...?
Re: how to make long-life food that lasts 25years...?
Sorry, no its not.Moony wrote:2) Put lump of dry ice on top (this is frozen Nitrogen, not water )
Dry Ice is frozen Carbon Dioxide. It is possible, somewhat, preserve food with CO2 but it works by lowering the PH and killing insects and fungi rather than removing the reactable Oxygen. CO2 preservation will get you 5 years or so not 25.
BTW: solid CO2 can be obtained because it freezes out at -78.5 °C. Nitrogen only solidifies at -210 °C or rather too close to absolute zero (-273.15°) to make it easy to produce. As an average citizen you can get liquid Nitrogen or compressed Nitrogen gas in a cylinder but you will never be able to purchase solid N2.

Saw this done on a Youtube vid and got confused nitrogen vs. CO2. Still It helps with preservation if you wish to try this route.
