Thinking about the orange juice.. It would be good for hydration after exercise but the acidity would be an unwanted part with illness. Especially with D&V.
Give a man fire and he will be warm for a day..
Set him on fire and he will be warm for the rest of his life..

i was thinking more for isotonic drinks, for after heavy going hikes, bugging out, escape runs etc.

with loss of electrolytes through perspiration and exertion mainly.

some recipes here:

http://www.cptips.com/hmdesnk.htm

various different suggestions, importnat to get a wider spectrum, not just salt (potassium, magnesium etc) if possible.

but agreed - wouldnt be needing them usually unless really REALLY unwell with D&V.

Oh I totally agree that a fortified OJ would be really good after exercise. Prob ba able to make it quite long lasting. Maybe even a smoothie to get more vitamines and minerals?

Milk is good after excercise, altho if TSHTF you might have to milk the cows yourself :)
