Newbie

Post by Chrysallis »

Hello everyone.

I live in England, and recently I have become more interested in prepping having gone through periods of unemployment, when literally myself and OH had to account for every single penny. We had no savings, no store cupboard, no safety net, a mortgage, pets, but thankfully no other debts.

After a series of health issues, and sadly, some deaths in the family, we realise now how very quickly a person's circumstances can change, through no fault of their own. I wish I had the foresight of the members of this site to have some preparation behind us during that time.

I am just at the start, and looking to these forums for all the valuable advice they hold, so bear with me if I ask questions which have been asked before.

We realise now that with the LA's and national Government not being willing or financially able to help those at the poorer end of the scale, we now ALL need to have some level of self-reliance, self-responsibility and support. I feel like things have come full circle. Back to the Victorian age where the better-off are deciding who are the deserving poor, or not. Back when families and local communities helped each other through hard times; only now we have the wealth of knowledge of the wider internet community for support and advice too.

I look forward to reading these threads, probably more than posting, as I don't feel I have much advice to offer - yet!

Best wishes to all on their own prepping journey.

C.
